Hidden Gems — Privacy Policy

Hidden Gems ("the app") is a social iOS app for discovering and sharing restaurant recommendations. This policy describes what information the app collects, how it is used, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

When you create an account and use Hidden Gems, we collect:

• Account information — the email address and password you use to sign up, plus the display name and username you choose during profile setup. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only the email address Apple shares with us.
• Content you create — the restaurant posts, photos, comments, likes, follows, and saved restaurants you submit through the app.
• Coarse location — only when you explicitly grant permission for location-aware features (filtering search by distance from where you are right now). The app works without it.

We do not collect advertising identifiers, contacts, health data, financial information, or tracking data across other apps and websites.

How we use your information

We use the information above solely to operate the app: authenticating you, showing your posts to other users, powering the social feed, and personalizing your experience based on who you follow. We do not sell your information to third parties, and we do not use it for advertising.

Service providers

Hidden Gems uses the following services to operate the app:

• Supabase — stores your account, profile, posts, comments, likes, and follows. Supabase is a data processor that hosts this data on our behalf. See supabase.com/privacy.
• Apple — if you sign in with Apple, Apple authenticates the request before passing the result to us. See apple.com/legal/privacy.
• Unsplash — some restaurant photos shown in the app are loaded directly from Unsplash's CDN. See unsplash.com/privacy.

We do not share your personal information with any other third parties.

Moderation, blocks, and reports

If you report a post, comment, or user from inside the app, we record the reporter's user id, the target you reported, the reason you selected, and any optional notes you wrote. This information is used only to action moderation decisions and is not shared outside our team.

If you block another user, we store a row indicating that you have blocked them so the app can hide their content from your feed, search results, comments, and profile views. The blocked user is not notified.

Data retention

Your account and the content you create are retained until you request deletion. To delete your account and all associated content, email the address below; we will delete it within 30 days.

Your choices

• Edit your display name, username, photo, and bio from your profile.
• Block any user from inside the app to hide their content from your view.
• Sign out at any time from your profile.
• Request account deletion by emailing the address below.

Children

Hidden Gems is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
